Overcome Your Fear Of The Dentist - Texas Grins Family Dentistry

Overcome Your Fear Of The Dentist

Many people associate the dentist’s office with pain, aggressive air conditioning, and tools that intimidatingly whirr. In fact, as many as 15 percent of American adults admit that fear of the dentist has prevented them from getting the care they need.

We understand. And we want to fix it.

That’s why when Dr. Crain opened his own practice in 2006, he wanted it to be a place where patient comfort is a priority. We’re proud of our welcoming environment, friendly staff, and comfort measures that together can make going to the dentist a more pleasant experience.

Read on for more information about how we can help you overcome fear and alleviate stress. Then, let us challenge your assumptions of what it’s like to go to the dentist! Call our Willow Park office at 817-779-7111 to schedule an appointment.

High-Tech Dentistry In A Comfortable Setting

Sure, we’re a dental office. But dentistry has evolved so much in recent decades. A practice is so much more than just a place you go to get your teeth cleaned.

From the time you walk into our practice, you’ll realize it’s not your run-of-the-mill dentist’s office. The first thing you’ll notice is our ranch-style decor. It’s warm and it’s fun, and we hope it’s a place you’ll enjoy coming to.

Maximizing patient comfort isn’t just about comfy sofas and a cozy environment, though.

We’re also dedicated to staying abreast of the latest in dental technology. Thanks to computer-assisted dentistry, dental procedures are more precise, efficient, and comfortable than ever. We use Galileos 3D CBCT imaging and intraoral cameras to fully understand what’s going on with your dental health and more thoroughly plan your treatment.

Our CEREC milling device even allows us to do what other offices can’t: create beautiful dental restorations in a matter of minutes. We know you’re busy. Our ability to create same-day crowns cuts down on follow-up appointments and eliminates the need for a temporary dental crown.

You’ll even see some of our state-of-the-art technology during routine cleanings and checkups! We use a Diagnodent Laser Scanner to detect the earliest signs of tooth decay so we can quickly address the problem.

Dedication To Continuing Education

At Texas Grins, we’re dedicated to being lifelong students of dentistry. Our patients depend on us for high-quality dental care, and it’s a responsibility we take very seriously. We want to ensure that we’re at the top of our game so you can enjoy truly excellent care.

Dr. Crain is consistently completing continuing education courses and business training.

His commitment to excellence in education began early. He graduated from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in biology and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 2005.

Recently, he earned a prestigious fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, one that very few dentists in the country receive! He is also a member of many professional organizations so he can connect with and learn from his peers.

We strive to constantly get better at what we do!

Minimize Stress And Discomfort With Dental Sedation

We know that sometimes a gentle hand and highly skilled professionals still aren’t enough to relieve your stress. That’s why we also offer two forms of sedation dentistry, which involves the use of medication to affect how you experience your dental work.

Paired with local and topical anesthetic to numb the area before work begins, dental sedation will help you have a completely comfortable experience.

Here are the forms of dental sedation we offer:

  • Nitrous oxide. Also known as “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide is a fast-acting sedative administered with the help of a small mask we place over your nose. You simply inhale the nitrous oxide. It’s safe, and many people like it because there are no needles or pills involved. Plus, nitrous oxide provides a mild euphoric sensation that will make you feel like you’re ready for your procedure.
  • Oral sedation. If you’re looking for a slightly deeper form of dental sedation than nitrous oxide, oral sedation might be just the thing you need to feel relaxed during your appointment. This form of dental sedation is administered in the form of a pill, which you’ll take before your appointment. By the time the work is about to begin, you’ll feel relaxed and perhaps a bit sleepy.

Although nitrous oxide wears off quickly after your procedure is over, you may still feel some lingering effects after opting for oral sedation. If you choose oral sedation for your procedure, we ask that you arrange a ride to and from our office to ensure your safety!
