Superior Treatment with Dental Tech
Dental anxiety is a widespread problem in our society. As many as 15% of Americans say they avoid the dentist out of fear. Countless others experience lower levels of nervousness before their appointments. Dentistry has a deeply ingrained reputation for being uncomfortable, unpleasant, and even painful.
The truth is that in the past, procedures were uncomfortable, unpleasant, and even painful. The same can be said for dentistry at some less technologically advanced practices even today.
At Texas Grins, we have two priorities: to give you the best possible clinical care and to give you the best possible patient experience — one that’s stress free and even pleasant (yes, your visit with us can actually be pleasant).
Developments in dental technology have revolutionized the field of dentistry, making formerly invasive procedures faster, more precise, and more comfortable. We’ve embraced these advancements wholeheartedly.
For you, the patient, that means better dentistry without pain.

CEREC Same-Day Crowns
We’ve invested in a state-of-the-art CEREC machine, which enables us to create high-quality custom crowns all in the time of a single dental visit.
The traditional method for creating crowns (still used at many dental offices today) goes something like this: you come in for an appointment, at which your dentist takes impressions of your tooth and perhaps places a temporary crown over it. The dentist sends your impressions and measurements to an outside lab, where your crown is crafted on their own sweet time.
At some point in the future (weeks? months?), your crown will arrive at your dentist’s office. You will take time out of your busy schedule for yet another appointment, where your permanent crown will finally be placed.
Now contrast that with the procedure for our CEREC crowns. At your appointment, we will take digital impressions — which are far less invasive and more comfortable than conventional impressions — of your teeth. The impressions are sent to our in-office CEREC computer, which designs your restoration in three dimensions. The design is sent to the CEREC digital milling machine, which carves your precise, perfectly fitting custom crown from a ceramic block.
All this happens while you are still sitting in the dentist’s chair. Once your crown is ready, Dr. Crain will place it over your tooth. No need to come back for a second appointment and no need to wear a temporary.
Galileos 3D CBCT Imaging
If you have one or more teeth missing, dental implants are the gold standard tooth replacement. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root made from titanium and surgically implanted into your jaw. It is topped with an abutment and artificial tooth. Dental implants look like real teeth, feel like real teeth, and work like real teeth. They fuse with your bone and are completely stable. You can eat whatever you want.
Our Galileos 3D CBCT Imaging system provides fast and highly detailed 3-D images of your jaw and facial structure with very low levels of radiation. Using this technology, we are able to virtually visualize implant placement and develop a precise custom plan for your treatment. Whether you need a single dental implant or multiple teeth replaced (including implant-supported dentures), our Galileos 3D CBCT ensures accuracy.
DIAGNOdent Cavity Detection
When you come in for a cleaning and examination, we will check for cavities — nothing new. But our DIAGNOdent cavity detection system makes this process is easier and more accurate than the conventional way.
The DIAGNOdent “system” is a handheld laser pen. We scan it over your teeth — a totally noninvasive and pain-free process — and are able to see whether a tooth likely has decay based on the amount of fluorescence it gives off.
This system exposes even small amounts of hidden decay that are not visible to the naked eye. This allows us to get a head start on treatment, well before the problem worsens.
Digital Imaging
We employ digital X-rays, 3-D digital imaging, and high-tech intraoral cameras for a variety of procedures at Texas Grins Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. This modern and forward-thinking approach streamlines procedures, increases precision and accuracy, reduces treatment times, and offers patients top-notch clinical care and a totally comfortable experience.
