Take Comfort In Your Dental Care - Texas Grins Family Dentistry

Take Comfort In Your Dental Care

Picture this …

You arrive for your dental appointment. A member of the staff greets you with a friendly smile and welcomes you to take a seat in the waiting room. Just minutes later you are called back for your regular cleaning.

If someone had told you that you would be this relaxed coming to the dentist, you probably wouldn’t have believed them. You used to feel a lot of anxiety about dental care.

But that was before you started coming to Texas Grins.

Dr. Ryan Crain and the team at our dentist office in Willow Park, TX, have put a lot of effort into creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere for our patients.

If you haven’t been to the dentist in a little while, then give us a call at [phone] or contact us online. Let us explain what we can to help you feel comfortable with maintaining your oral health.

Dental Anxiety Is More Common Than You May Realize

Experts estimate that as much as 15 percent of the population avoids dental care due to anxiety or fear. That’s more than 40 million people in the United States alone.

To put this another way, you aren’t alone if you haven’t been to the dentist office in years.

It’s also why you may want to pay a visit to Texas Grins. When we were designing our dentist office, we didn’t want it to be a cold, sterile environment.

Instead, we created a space where you can feel relaxed and supported by our dental professionals. We understand that there are many reasons patients may feel anxious about dental care, which is why we offer comfort and sedation dentistry.

You may have had a bad experience with a dentist when you were younger. You may be worried that your treatment will be painful or that you might gag during your visit.

At our office, we will do everything we reasonably can to help you feel relaxed and calm. We use the latest technology and techniques to make dental care as painless as we possibly can, and we can help alleviate your worries about gagging with our dental sedation.

Let’s take a closer look at ways we can make your dental visits easier to handle.

Comfort Options During Your Visit

When you picture a dentist office, you may think of a clinical setting with equipment arranged neatly next to a dental chair. You also may think of a place where the staff is a little cold, kind of like the room where you are treated.

That is not what you will find at Texas Grins. While we do keep our equipment clean, we also try to create a warm atmosphere for you.

If you are cold, we have blankets that you can use to feel cozy. We also have neck pillows that can help keep you comfortable.

And if it would help to distract yourself during your dental care, we can help with that, too. Our noise-canceling headphones can drown out the sounds of dental equipment so you can listen to music instead. If you prefer to watch one of your favorite shows, we also have televisions in each of our patient care rooms.

Sedation Dentistry Can Help You Relax

For patients with moderate or severe dental anxiety, a blanket and TV show may not be enough to take your mind off your treatment. That’s why we offer two kinds of dental sedation at our practice.

No matter which sedation option you choose, you can trust that it will:

➞ help you relax

➞ prevent you from gagging

➞ prevent you from feeling any pain

Many patients who undergo sedation don’t remember much about their dental visits. Some consider this the best benefit dental sedation has to offer.

Oral sedation is the stronger of the options we provide. This involves taking a single dose of medication prior to your appointment. Some patients feel drowsy or fall asleep. Either way, you will receive the same quality dental care from our team.

You will need someone else to drive you home from your appointment, however. The effects of oral sedation can last for hours, and you will likely want to rest for a bit when you get home.

Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, is our milder sedation option. This involves breathing the gas throughout your treatment. It takes effect quickly, and for most people, it wears off just as quickly when the gas is turned off at the conclusion of your dental care.
